Because I occasionally enjoy being on the other side of the table.
It takes an enormous amount of craft, skill, and energy to perform in a musical. While I now primarily choreograph and direct, I do still enjoy my time onstage! I love keeping my own skills fresh, and working within the day-to-day ensemble that actually performs the work once a show is open. And, as a creator myself, I find great value in working with other directors and choreographers to gain new perspectives. Performing also continuously renews my respect for the performers who pour themselves into my own artistic work.
